Watch for heat-related problems

As Summer heat continues, people are being urged to watch for heat-related illnesses.

Council has drawn attention to NSW Health advice that persistent hot weather has the potential to cause problems ranging from rashes and cramps, to more serious heat stroke.

Generally, problems are caused when high temperatures, humidity or dehydration causes people to overheat.

See NSW Health advice.

See our online UV meter

Council also joins with the Australian Bureau of Meteorology and the Cancer Council to provide an online UV meter. Check the reading before heading out into the sun and see what precautions are advised by the Cancer Council.

Protecting animals

Pets can also feel the heat during Summer. The RSPCA offers these suggestions for helping your animals during hot weather.

Keeping your garden alive

Gardens can wilt in hot weather. See these guidelines to help your plants remain healthy.

Cooling down your car

Driving a car in hot weather can be particularly uncomfortable. Here's some tips for cooling down your vehicle.
