Wyong Shire Council is located on the northern end
of the scenic Central Coast, an easy one hour's drive
north from Sydney along the freeway. Wyong Shire
is a leading tourist and high growth residential
area with pristine beaches, lush national parks and
diverse wildlife. Major shopping centres offer a
wide range of department and speciality stores and
dining out offers a truly international choice of
cuisines and culinary delights. Council’s administration
building is located at Wyong and is only approximately
a five minute walk
from the railway station. Council also has two depots
located in both the northern and southern regions of
the shire.

Council’s Structure
Wyong Shire Council employs approximately 900 permanent
staff with approximately 1200 employees in total including
staff in casual and temporary positions. It comprises
three distinct departments and a General Manager’s
Unit.
Corporate Services: which includes governance and
functions that support the rest of the organisation.
Shire Planning: which includes strategic planning
and the regulatory and compliance functions of Council
Shire Services: which includes functions that are
directly provided to the community, such as services,
facilities and infrastructure.

Occupational Health and Safety
The NSW Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000 was
introduced to ensure the health, safety and welfare
of persons both at work and at workplaces. The Act
and Council Policies aim to protect your health, safety
and welfare by enforcing general requirements which
must be met. These requirements cover Council employees,
contractors and visitors to our workplace.
As a staff member of Wyong Shire Council you will
have the responsibility to take reasonable care of
the health and safety of yourself and others and to
co-operate with Council’s Policies and our efforts
to comply with occupational health and safety requirements
Code of Conduct
The Local Government Act 1993 requires every council
to adopt a code of conduct that incorporates the provisions
of The Model Code of Conduct for Local Councils in
NSW. Councillors, members of Council, staff and delegates
of the Council must comply with the applicable provision
of Council's code of conduct. Council contractors and
volunteers are also required to observe the relevant
provisions of this code of conduct.
