Spotted
Gum Pre-School and Children’s
Centre
Thomas Mitchell Road, Killarney Vale
Ph: (02) 4334 6395
This centre is located in a quiet street and is surrounded
by gum trees which create a calm and relaxing environment
and give the centre its name.
It is also within walking
distance to Killarney Vale Public School and close
to Brooke Avenue Public School. The car park entry
is accessed via a quiet cul-de-sac which backs
onto a reserve.
The building has recently been refurbished and the
many trees provide an ideal shade over part of the
outdoor play area.
The centre runs valuable school readiness programs
for older children and has strong links with its local
public schools. It often exchanges information with
the schools throughout the year to make sure its
programs remain relevant and up to date.
Staff are highly trained and experienced and are continuing
their early childhood studies, learning through research
and updated theories of child development. Not only
does this help with their own professional development,
their studies are also shared with other staff and
introduced into the centre’s operational program.
Families and the wider community are encouraged to
be involved in the pre-school and children’s
centre through fundraising events, educational services
and special events during the year.
Staff recognise
the importance of involving the community to help
young families wherever possible.
As well as being a Sun Smart Centre, Spotted Gum is
also the holder of Health Smart Awards in Mental Health,
Dental Health, Nutrition and Physical Activity. These
are awarded by Northern Sydney and Central Coast Area
Health.
