second gap'
Read how this could
save your life. Looking back : It was
a crying shame
Over the past year, the road
safety spotlight touched seven friends from Wyong Shire,
who
were concerned
about
the high
number of young people being killed
or injured
on our roads. These friends recorded a special CD
called 'Crying Shame'
The aim of the CD was to present songs and
video that highlighted the dangers
of
driver distraction, including overcrowding in cars;
talking on mobile phones while driving; drink and drug
driving; speeding; and not wearing a seatbelt.
'Crying Shame' was distributed through local
high schools to raise awareness of these potentially
fatal
issues
and to try to change youth attitudes
to poor road safety behaviour.
Council joined the Motor Accidents Authority, Blue
Light Disco and NSW
Police
in supporting the project.
Pedestrian safety
Kids grow up quickly, and constantly
surprise us with what they can do.However, they are
not ready to be left alone around traffic until they
are at least 10 years old. See
why.
Scooter safety
Wyong Shire Council continues to play a role in
improving safety for the growing number of people
who use motorised scooters and wheelchairs. See the Scooter
