Tumbi Creek Project

Tumbi Creek is a waterway which enters the Tuggerah Lakes estuary on Australia's east coast, north of Sydney.Photo of Tumbi Creek, showing siltration at the creek mouth.

After the creek mouth became blocked by sediment in 2001/02, the waterway was closed to boating. Water quality worsened and the channel became narrower, increasing the risk of flooding.

Following a trial in mid-2006, Wyong Shire Council agreed to use an aquatic excavator to dredge the Tumbi Creek channel, before taking sediment to a waste management facility.
