Wildlife Survey Reults
Wyong Shire hosted an interesting
Community Wildlife Survey, as part
of a
wider
Central
Coast project.
Undertaken by Wyong and eighbouring
Gosford councils and the National Parks and Wildlife
Service, the survey gathered
information
on the spread
of native and introduced animals . It proved a big
hit with residents.
The most commonly recorded wildlife were laughing kookaburras,
rainbow lorikeets, galahs, blue-tongued lizards, eastern
rosellas, noisy minahs, sulphur crested cockatoos, brush-tailed
possums, willie wagtails and rabbits.
The results and feedback will help shape Council’s
future policies on wildlife management, particularly
in relation to rare and threatened species and the preservation
of bushland corridors. Thank you to everyone who took
part.
