Wyong Shire Council strives to make this website accessible.

PDF Accessibility Problems
Despite our best efforts, some sections of the website may remain inaccessible.

While efforts are made to provide text-based equivalents for our downloadable material, much of this content remains in the Adobe PDF format. The Adobe Accessibility Resource Centre provides information on the accessibility features of their software, in particular Adobe Reader. An online tool for converting PDF documents to text is also available from the Resource Centre.

Changing how sites are displayed
The ability to change the way your internet browser displays a site is often best controlled within the browser itself.

The BBC has created a useful tutorial which explains how to change your settings to suit your preferences within the software you use.

Browsers
Running modern, standards-compliant browsers allows the user to access resources, materials and the World Wide Web as it was originally intended. There are several excellent browsers available.

Visit either The Web Standards Project or the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) for additional information.

Downloads
See how to download or upgrade your browser.

For Windows machines
Firefox – a fast, fully standards compliant browser by Mozilla
Internet Explorer 7 – considered standard and fully compliant.
Maxthon – contains a lot of features. Internet Explorer also needs to be installed.
Opera – a particularly fast browser, whose accessibility features include the ability to scale the entire webpage - fonts, images and all - to fit any size screen..

For Macintosh
Firefox - fully standards compliant
Safari – considered to be the standard Macintosh browser for Macintosh OS X
Opera – compliant, with many accessibility features.
Camino – a Macintosh browser created by Mozilla

Firefox and Opera help to navigate using headings
Navigating using heading is an excellent accessibility tool for visitors using assistive technology.

The extension Document Map for the Mozilla Firefox browser will allow visitors to navigate to headings within a page of content. Visit the Firefox Add-ons page for the latest extensions for this browser.

Navigation using headings is not limited to visitors using assistive technology. The Opera browser has excellent keyboard shortcuts that are invaluable to visitors with motor disabilities.
