are not associated with households

Why control liquid trade waste?
Sewerage systems mainly collect waste from houses.
However, these systems may also be capable of accepting
liquid trade waste, provided that the discharges are
planned, known and within accepted limits.
It is, therefore, important for Council to regulate
liquid trade waste discharges, so that the waste does
not:
- Cause problems for the sewerage treatment processes
- Compromise
the health and safety of council workers
- Damage council’s
infrastructure and assets
- Significantly increase maintenance
costs
- Overflow the system
- Cause significant odour complaints
- Harm the
environment
- Harm public health and safety
- Degrade effluent
and biosolid quality and management
