Recycle
those Christmas cards
Don't throw out all those Christmas cards and envelopes:
recycle them instead using a system supported by Wyong
Shire Council
Card and envelopes can be dropped into specially marked
Planet Ark recycling bins at Coles Supermarkets or
posted at Australia Post outlets in Card 4 Planet Ark
envelopes.
The Cards 4 Planet Ark campaign is in it’s 13th
year and has seen over 550 million greeting cards recycled
and has produced a tangible environmental benefit with
over 100,000 trees having been saved.
Card and envelopes are recycled into everyday items
including cardboard packaging and SAFE toilet tissue.
Wyong Council’s Environmental Education officer,
Danielle Hargreaves said “Australians send over
100 million cards and envelopes at Christmas. With
so many being sent, it’s great to know that we
can recycle them so easily.”
“Planet Ark will accept any type of greeting
card and envelope so this holiday season, remember
to recycle your greeting cards with Planet Ark. It’s
an easy way to help the environment”.
For details of greeting card recycling locations in
your area, visit Council’s website at www.wyong.nsw.gov.au
or call the National Recycling Hotline on 1300 733
712.
‘Cards 4 Planet Ark’ runs until the end
of January.
