NAIDOC Week flag raising

A popular event on the Central Coast calendar, the National and Aboriginal Islander Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week, will start in Wyong Shire on Friday, 4 July with a flag raising ceremony to the theme of 'Our Children Our Future'.

The flag raising and official launch will be followed next Tuesday, 8 July by the presentation of the 2003 Central Coast Koori Community Awards.

The award winners will be announced at the Community Gathering and Health Expo held annually at Mt Penang Parklands, Kariong.

The Expo will include art and craft displays, service stalls, a barbeque lunch, entertainment and sports activities, starting at 10am. For additional details, contact (02) 4320 2698.

This year’s NAIDOC theme highlights the importance of ensuring our children have the right to life, to good health, to protection, to education, to an adequate standard of living and much more.

Information about the origin of NAIDOC Week can be found here or find out about NAIDOC Week events in Wyong Shire.
