Australia Day 2004
Aussie breakfast to launch Wyong
park celebrations
A typical Aussie breakfast will launch Australian Day
celebrations at Wyong Town Park.
Tucker will be served from 9am on January 26, to the
sounds of country band, ‘Midnight Riders’;
various other artists and words of wisdom from Central
Coast bush poet, Garry Lowe.
At 10am, the formal Australia Day activities will start
with a flag-raising. Other highlights will include an
appearance by the Central Coast Harmony Chorus, which
will sing the National Anthem; and an address by Wyong
Mayor, Greg Best.
Those present will also have an opportunity of hearing
Wyong Shire’s Australia Day ambassador, Bryce
Courtenay. The internationally reknown author now lives
in the Yarramalong Valley and his presence will be a
feature of celebrations across the Shire. A former prominent
advertising industry figure, his enthusiasm and community
spirit is infectious and his address promises to be
a highlight of Australia Day 2004.
Once the formal part activities are finished, an Austrtalia
Day cake will be cut, followed by the singing of ‘Happy
Birthday’ to the nation.
Celebrations will then continue with both the Night
Riders and Garry Lowe.
