Australia Day 2004
The “thud” of axe
on timber will announce the start of Australia Day community
celebrations in Wyong Shire.
At least 30 axemen are expected to compete in the Central
Coast Woodchopping Championship, in Memorial Park at
The Entrance, on Sunday, January 25.
The chips will begin flying at 11am and, as in the
past, this event is certain to attract a big crowd.
Competition will continue until 3pm
Organised by the Central Coast Axemen’s Association,
in conjunction with The Entrance Town Centre Management,
the 2004 titles will boast $2,850 in prizemoney spread
over seven categories.
The petpetual trophy for the highest pointscorer is
currently held by Nathan Withers, of Oatley NSW.
