Australia Day 2004

The “thud” of axe on timber will announce the start of Australia Day community celebrations in Wyong Shire.

At least 30 axemen are expected to compete in the Central Coast Woodchopping Championship, in Memorial Park at The Entrance, on Sunday, January 25.

The chips will begin flying at 11am and, as in the past, this event is certain to attract a big crowd. Competition will continue until 3pm

Organised by the Central Coast Axemen’s Association, in conjunction with The Entrance Town Centre Management, the 2004 titles will boast $2,850 in prizemoney spread over seven categories.

The petpetual trophy for the highest pointscorer is currently held by Nathan Withers, of Oatley NSW.
