Historical site Details
Alison Homestead, Cape Road, Wyong Built by Charles Alison, c 1885.

Chapmans Store, Cnr Alison Rd. & Hely St., Wyong Opened in 1901, the largest store in region. The original Police Station (next door) was opened in the same year.

Catherine Hill Bay

North of Wyong Shire boundary on the Coast, is an old mining village with the main street remaining almost unchanged since the nineteenth century.

Court House, Alison Road, Wyong Foundation stone laid by Thomas John Ley (the then NSW Minister for Justice), in 1924, he was later found guilty of murder in England. This building is built on the site of the first Post Office which opened in 1892.

Yarramalong, Yarramalong Rd. (2 cemeteries) opposite RMB 1311, and at St. Barnabas Church - Ezekiel Waters and William Beaven.

Ronkana, Old Chittaway Rd., Fountaindale.

Jetties, Tuggerah Pde., Long Jetty

3 jetties (Parry’s, Watkins & the Long Jetty), Long Jetty named for original ‘long jetty’ used by ferries in 1923.

Jetty, Cross Street, Toukley

Used by ferries from Toukley to Wyong. General Store on the other side of the Main Road was the Post Office and this area was originally Toukley.

Norah Head Lighthouse Built c 1903

"Noraville", Elizabeth Drive, Noraville Built by Edward Hammond Hargraves (gold discoverer), 1853-1857
Old Maitland Road Early route to Maitland. Stonework can be seen in various places.
Old Stone House, Brush Creek Built by Anders Christenson c1890, the adjoining stone building was a cheese factory.
Old Tuggerah Jetty, Lake Road, Tuggerah Built by the government in 1901, parts are still visible.
Ourimbah Railway Station The railway station was built in 1886.

Ourimbah School First School in what is now Wyong Shire. The School was built in 1863 on the site of the present railway station. In 1886 the school was moved to the opposite side of the road and a wooden building constructed.
Royal Hotel, Beer Garden Pump and well in the Beer garden, original water supply for the hotel.
St Ann's Church, Dooralong Built in 1921 by Hugh D’Arcy, dedicated 22 April 1922.

St Barnabas' Church, Yarramalong

Oldest Church building in Wyong Shire. It opened c1885 and the last 'formal' service was held in 1977. Special monthly services and weddings still take place. View St Barnabas' Church in our Historical Sites Photogallery.

St Cecelia’s Church, Byron St., Wyong The oldest church in Wyong. It is still in use today.

"Strathavon" Boyce Avenue, Wyong

Oldest part dates from 1912-1913 It was the residence of Albert Hamlyn Warner, and was then called "Hakone".

The Entrance Bridge

The first bridge between The Entrance & The Entrance North, wooden single lane bridge built in 1934 & demolished in 1969. The New bridge was commenced in 1967 and officially opened April 18, 1969.

The Entrance Hotel Built in 1927, it features typical architectural design of the period.

The Entrance Surf Club Built 1941, unique architectural design & location.
Toukley Bridge The first bridge between Toukley and Gorokan. Construction began in 1938. The bridge was officially opened on 29th April, 1939. New bridge was commenced in 1983, and opened on July 5th, 1985.

Turreted buildings, Wyong Cnr Church St, built by Albert Hamlyn Warner 1915, also shops opposite at corner Railway Square. All have distinctive turreted tops.
Woodbury's Inn site, near Woodbury's Bridge, Wyong Creek Built c1866 by Matthew James Woodbury.
Wyong Creek Hall Opened in 1914 by Alec Wilkinson

Wyong Creek School, Wyong Creek Opened, 1883. One of the oldest school buildings in the Wyong Shire.
Wyong Public School, Alison Rd., Wyong Opened in May 1889, last used as school Sep. 1979

Yarramalong Hall

Opened in 1904 by Alec Wilkinson
